“Without You” by Mattilo is officially in consideration for the 69th GRAMMY® Awards in Best Dance/Electronic Recording. Released on Insomniac / Gotta Move, the song was written and produced by Mattilo, and it now sits in the same conversation as the biggest names in dance music.

For an artist who has built everything his own way, it is a milestone that says as much about the path as the song.

Mattilo is a 24-year-old Salvadoran American DJ and producer from Temple City, California. His story started in his dad’s basement, where he began making music at six years old. Instead of waiting for someone to discover him, he took his career into his own hands and started sharing his music online, building a community of fans drawn to his high-energy sound.

His breakout single “SET ME FREE” marked his arrival in the electronic scene and earned support from Martin Garrix and other major names in the industry. In 2024, “Thinkin Bout U” became his breakthrough record. That same year he hit the road with Devault, then joined Loud Luxury on a national tour, playing packed rooms across the U.S. In 2025 he took the stage at EDC Las Vegas — a full-circle moment for the kid who started out making beats in his dad’s basement.

That independence is why this moment lands. A Salvadoran American artist who built his own path, carrying a song he wrote and produced himself into GRAMMY® consideration, is a story about where dance music is going next.

“Without You” is about loss and the pull to find your way back: replaying a moment every night and wishing it had gone differently. It is built to be felt alone in headphones and together on a dance floor. “Was it fate we can’t undo? Now I’m here, but I lost you. Every night I play it through, wishing I could get back to you. Now I’m without you.”

The visuals follow the same feeling. The cover shows a lone figure walking away through a violet haze, and the Spotify Canvas finds Mattilo floating above purple clouds, suspended between letting go and holding on.

“Without You” was written and produced by Mattilo, and mixed and mastered by Julio Rodríguez Sangrador. It is out now on Insomniac / Gotta Move.

Recording Academy members are voting in the first round now, through October 22. Nominations for the 69th GRAMMY® Awards will be announced on November 16, and the ceremony takes place February 7, 2027, in Los Angeles.

The night voting closes, Mattilo is throwing a free pop-up rave in his hometown: Thursday, October 22, from 9 PM to 2 AM at The Melrose House, 4216 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles. Free entry, first come, first served (capacity 300) — RSVP on Partiful. Expect new music, merch, and “Without You” played the way it was made to be heard.
